How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture stimulates the nervous system by placing extremely thin stainless steel needles into various pressure points. This causes the release of natural chemicals into the muscles, brain, and spinal chord which then stimulate physical healing and improved regulation of mood and well-being.
These needles are left in place for up to 20 minutes at a time.
What does acupuncture treat?
Acupuncture can treat chronic pain from sciatica, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, back pain, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, migraines and neck pain. It is also often used to treat neuropathy and other symptoms from cancer and diabetes.
Acupuncture can also treat mental health issues like stress, anxiety, depression, tension, and generally improve overall mental health and well-being.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are very thin, so any pain is minimal. You may feel a slight pinch when the needle is first inserted. You may also feel a mild, dull pain after the needles are left in place.
Throughout your procedure Dr. Choi will communicate with you and assess how you are feeling. She will adapt her needle placement technique as much as possible to suite your situation.
Does acupuncture work for anxiety?
Yes! Studies have shown that acupuncture is an effective treatment for stress and anxiety. Acupuncture releases natural calming hormones which combat stress hormones like cortisol. Acupuncture treatment may work when medication and psychotherapy are ineffective. It may also have less side effects than medication.
You may see quick results with your stress and anxiety starting to decrease with just one or two visits.
Does acupuncture work for chronic pain?

How soon will I see results from acupuncture?
It may take three to four sessions to see results from acupuncture. However, this is highly dependent upon the person and the type of symptom that they are trying to relieve.
